Steve Treanor is the founder and CEO of Team Cavalry, a family of independently scoped businesses built around the disciplines defense contractors and small businesses need most: managed IT, compliance, and security. Each entity, Help Desk Cavalry, Compliance Cavalry, and Security Cavalry, operates separately by design, so that no single firm carries a conflict of interest across IT operations, compliance guidance, and security assessment.
A former U.S. Army Cavalry Scout and honorably discharged disabled veteran, Steve served ten years in uniform before applying that same scouting mindset to civilian technology work: identifying threats early, riding in with the right expertise at the right moment, and never leaving a client to figure it out alone. He founded Help Desk Cavalry in 2013 and grew it into a Kitsap County-based MSP with more than 30 employees serving 150-plus clients across the Pacific Northwest, achieving CMMC Level 2 internally and earning Cyber-AB Registered Practitioner Organization (RPO) status to support the defense industrial base.
A fifth-generation Kitsap resident, Steve recognized early that awareness of CMMC requirements across the regional DIB was lagging far behind the contract risk. In 2024 he founded CMMC-PNW, the Pacific Northwest’s annual vendor-neutral conference dedicated to helping regional defense contractors understand what’s coming, what’s required, and how to turn compliance into competitive advantage. He continues to serve as host and a leading advocate for the PNW defense industrial base, focused on workforce development, veteran hiring, and helping small contractors stay eligible for the work that keeps this region’s economy strong.
